An Open-Source Dictionary App with Great Versatility
StarDict is a free, cross-platform dictionary app. This international dictionary software has quite a few powerful features under its sleeve, such as ‘scan selection word’ and ‘glob-style pattern matching’. StarDict is basically open-source, which means there are 1000+ dictionaries that support this program. The FreeDict dictionaries that could be converted to StarDict format include some older variants of Webster’s dictionary, along with several dictionaries from other different languages. Moreover, StarDict offers built-in search capabilities and the ability to add lexicons in different languages.

It can still work, but I consider it obsolete software..
Good idea, has a good interface. DIFFICULT to install. Uses an uncommon compression. (.rar), and the dictionaries have to be loaded separately.
They are no longer available. Online dictionaries have changed format, but still usable.
Pros:
The interface.
Cons:
Dictionaries are missing.
Online lookup need re-writing. More
